Privacy Statement

The Privacy Rule under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requires covered entities to take reasonable steps to limit the use or disclosure of protected health information (PHI) to the minimum necessary to accomplish the intended purpose of the use, disclosure, or request.

AHCS will adhere to the standards set by HIPAA and the ethical principles of this agency to insure that only information that is required to fulfill the stated purpose of the services, and that required by law, will be disclosed.

Patient/Client/Consumer Rights

AHCS services are licensed by the Virginia DMHMRSAS. AHCS observes DMHMRSAS licensing and human rights regulations and is a member of the Blue Ridge Behavioral Health agency’s local human rights council. AHCS clients are notified of their rights upon entering a program/service, and yearly thereafter. In addition, client rights are posted throughout the programs, along with the names and contact information of advocates who work on behalf of the client.
